It matters! Becoming a member is a way of strengthening MGRM’s advocacy efforts. It sends a clear message to politicians and policy makers that LGBTIQ equality is important not just to the staff and volunteers of the organisation but to the broader LGBTIQ community and its friends and allies. You don’t have to be LGBTIQ to be a member of MGRM. You do have to believe that all people are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
Becoming a paid member of the organisation gives you a voice in shaping the objectives and goals of the movement and the right to vote for the steering committee members who you think will best represent you and carry out the work of the organisation.
While MGRM generates funds mostly through Project Grants most of these require co-funding. Contributions from Silver and Gold membership and other donations allow us to apply for project funding and cover core costs. The more co-funding we are able to generate, the more projects we are able to engage in.
