Thank you for your donation, your support continues to build our motivation to work harder in advocating for LGBTIQ equality and in supporting those members of the community who are most vulnerable or who might be going through a difficult time.
Over the past years MGRM has been actively involved in important legislative initiatives such as the Civil Union Act and the Marriage Equality Act; the Gender Identity, Gender Expression and Sex Characteristics Act and the law banning so-called Conversion Practices. Through the MGRM’s Rainbow Support Service we have also been able to provide social work, counselling, legal advice to a number of individuals and families and training to professionals in mainstream services.
Our current goals include health care for trans persons through the national health service; better testing, prevention and treatment for HIV; access to reproductive health and rights; inclusive curricula in schools; the setting up of a support group for parents of trans children and reaching out to older LGBTIQ persons.
