Our Story

#OurStory is a Rainbow Support Service youth project funded through Aġenzija Żgħażagħ. The young people met with and interviewed LGBTIQ couples who have entered a civil union or marriage. The interviews were recorded and edited by the young people with the assistance and support of Nadine Noko and the Rainbow Support Service Team.

The project run over a span of five months between June and October 2016 where all phases of the documentary were discussed, planned and developed. Various sessions were held introducing the young people involved to the concept of logo design, marketing, editing and promotion facilitated by Nadine Noko. Chris Peregin from Lovin Malta also delivered a training session on interviewing skills and the role of journalists.

Together with the trainer the young people came up with a logo design, and developed a blog where the progress of the production was documented and promoted. The trainers guided the young people on how to go about asking the questions and introduced the young people to different modes of questioning. Footage of the celebrations in St. George’s Square when the civil union act was passed was obtained from PBS.

Six same-sex couples who have entered a civil union or marriage as well as the Minister for Civil Liberties Helena Dalli were interviewed.  A leaflet to promote the project together with copies of the DVD and a DVD pouch were also produced. The project was launched during a short activity at Aġenzija Żgħażagħ on the 29th October 2016.
