A survey on sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons in Malta, 2006 – 2008
The survey was carried out between June and October 2008 by means of a written questionnaire consisting of a total of 77 questions, which was also made available online. It resulted in 150 authentic replies, focused on the experiences of LGBT respondents in the previous two years so as to provide an account of the current scenario and to enable some assessment of the progress made since 2002, when the first survey was conducted.
The survey looks at relationships, family matters and the social attitudes that frame the lives of LGBT people in Malta; physical violence experienced by respondents over the last two years and experiences of psychological harassment in the same period. The report moves on to discuss discrimination, violence and harassment in different settings: at the workplace; in the provision of housing, health and other services; by faith organisations and at educational institutions.
